Romaine...Fit for a ‘Caesar’ and a Lot More |
| |
Romaine is truly one of the world’s great Lettuces — nutritious,
delicious and versatile. Romaine has medium-to-dark green, long, crisp
leaves with firm white ribs almost to the tip of the leaf. As you reach the center, the Romaine Heart leaves become
smaller, more yellow and sweeter.
Romaine’s wonderful flavor and beautiful texture have made this Lettuce variety a traditional
“chef’s favorite,” whether used for its dark green outer leaves or its tender and
delectable Hearts. Romaine owes much of its fame to the starring role it plays in what is probably the world’s
most famous salad, the Caesar (named not for a Roman ruler but a creative Mexican restaurateur).
Romaine’s superb combination of nutrition, taste and texture will ensure the
popularity of this leaf lettuce for as long as humans love salad.
Ocean Mist Farms also grows a Red Romaine variety. Red Romaine has
the shape, size and nutrition value of conventional Green Romaine
with a robust, red leaf color. This unique variety gives any salad a
red-color flare, with the growing preference of the Romaine leaf
taste.
|
In order to grow Ocean Mist Romaine Lettuce year-round, we have growing regions
within ideal climates throughout California. Our Romaine and Romaine Hearts are hand selected, trimmed
and then packed in the field early in the morning to preserve maximum freshness.
Our Ocean Mist three-count Romaine Hearts surpass the industry standards on size and weight,
with a 22-oz minimum, giving you the most product for your money.
