At Ocean Mist Farms, we take pride in producing the best-tasting Artichokes in the world,
and we are continually looking for ways to improve our varieties.
For more than 25 years, Ocean Mist Farms has been implementing research programs to
develop outstanding Artichoke varieties that can be grown in all of our
California
growing regions. As a result, we’re able to supply our
customers and consumers with a year round supply of outstanding Artichokes. We grow our
famous Globe Artichokes from root stock (perennial) and from seed (annual).
Green Globe
Our Green Globe Artichokes are perennials and are the “gold standard” of
Artichokes. They are grown in Castroville, Calif., where they have completely adapted
to this unique coastal growing region. Even so, Ocean Mist Farms has never stopped
trying to improve its Green Globe and continually works to improve this
variety’s quality.
Desert Globe
Desert Globe Artichokes were the first annual Artichokes that Ocean Mist Farms began to grow and improve by traditional
plant breeding methods. Over the last 25 years, this ongoing research program has resulted in the best Artichoke for the
late fall through the winter.
Hybrid Annual
 Ocean Mist Farms was one of the first companies in the world to develop a hybrid annual Artichoke. This program has
been in existence for nearly 20 years and has successfully produced varieties that are the best-eating and appearing
Artichokes for the warm summer and fall months. Efforts continue to expand the season that these Artichokes can be grown
while improving their already outstanding eating characteristics.
