The Accountant  will assist and work under the direction of the Sr. Accountant of Ocean Mist Farms. A strong work ethic, attention to detail, and job dedication is essential to be successful in this position. The qualified candidate will be able to perform GL Reconciliations, Grower Reconciliations, Inventory Reconciliations, Banking Reconciliations, compile financial statements and low level financial analysis.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Ocean Mist Foods

  • Post JE for monthly sales accruals.
  • Post JE for monthly expense growing cost.
  • Post monthly Depreciation
  • Prepare profit and loss statement, with supporting schedules.
  • Make payments to Grower Contract purchases and keep Crop in Ground records for all locations.
  • Complete monthly close and provide an accurate trial balance complete with supporting balance sheet schedules.
  • Reconcile and calculate Final Grow Cost by grower and payments.
  • Monitor transactions for accuracy, commodity pricing, freight, harvesting rates etc

Ocean Mist Farms, Inc.

  • Assist in similar accounting functions when needed.

Other Duties:

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.
  • 1-3 years of accounting experience.
  • Experience in the Agricultural field is highly desired.
  • Working knowledge of Famous software is preferred.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Ability to work with and manage a high level of detailed information.
  • Ability to research, retrieve and organize data to prepare reports and financial documentation.
  • Accurately perform complex mathematical computations.
  • Set priorities and organize work to meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to coordinate a variety of projects simultaneously.
  • Work independently and in a lead capacity as a team member and adapt to changing program needs.
  • Train, plan and coordinate work for others.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external clients.
  • Interpret and explain complex rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Make decisions on a variety of complex matters in accordance with established procedures.
  • Advanced computer skills required (Excel, Word, Access).
