ACCOUNTANT/PRODUCTION ANALYST – CASTROVILLE, CA

The Accountant/Production Analyst will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, performing production data analysis, processing vendor liabilities, reconciling accounts, and completing monthly and year-end close responsibilities. The candidate should have a strong understanding of GAAP, exceptional communication skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be flexible in evolving responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Accounting:

  • Accounts Payable – Expense allocation and analysis, voucher entries, vendor reconciliations
  • Inventory Management – Crop Inventory/ Investments (i.e. capitalize and amortize accounts)
  • Month and Year End Accounting Process – Banking (i.e. cash receipts and invoicing, GL adjustments and reconciliations, Journal Entries)
  • Support Ranch Operations Controller

Financial Analysis and Administration:

  • Production Analysis and Administration – Monitor and analyze yield, quality and market information to support production decisions, optimize production planning and support the development and maintenance of the detailed planting schedule
  • Variance Analysis – Actual to Budget comparison with documentation
  • Ad-Hoc Reporting and Analysis: Provide ad-hoc reporting and analysis as required
  • Maintain detailed planting schedules for all crop types in various regions, ensuring consistency in format and information
  • Analyze previous years of planting and harvesting data to identify patterns, optimal harvest varieties, and other key insights to inform planting decisions
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) in Accounting or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 2-7 years of experience in accounting or finance. Agricultural experience is preferred
  • Agriculture experience preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, Word, and Business Intelligence Software. Famous Software experience is a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to perform complex mathematical computations accurately
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to research, retrieve, and organize data for reports and financial information
  • Ability to adapt to changing program needs and work independently or in a team setting
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish with the ability to communicate, read, write, and translate a plus
  • Ability to interpret complex rules, regulations, and policies
  • Ability to train, plan, and coordinate the work of others
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external clients
