ACCOUNTING CLERK - OCEAN MIST FARMS, CASTROVILLE, CA

The Accounting Clerk is responsible for assisting with clerical functions related to Accounts Payable, Payroll and other associated duties. Essentially, job responsibilities are divided 50/50 between Accounts Payable and Payroll tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide accounting and clerical support to the accounting department.
  • Review and process invoices in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Process check requests accurately and on time.
  • Match invoices to checks, obtain all signatures for checks and distribute checks accordingly.
  • Respond to all vendor inquires via email and/or phone call.
  • Reconcile vendor statements, research and correct discrepancies.
  • Create Excel spreadsheets for contract labor company reporting regarding payroll hours and ranches.
  • Email/fax payroll timesheets to contract labor company for weekly pay cycle.
  • Complete accurate, daily timecard calculations for all 25+ shop employees.
  • Process and close work orders as soon as the mechanic finalizes the job.
  • Reconcile monthly bank statements.
  • Open, sort and distribute incoming mail daily.
  • Maintain files and documentation accurately and thoroughly, in accordance with company policy and accounting practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements and Qualifications

  • Associates degree or relevant certification is preferred.
  • 1-3 years of general accounting experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Experience in the Agricultural field is highly desired.
  • Working knowledge of Famous software is preferred.
  • Familiarity with bookkeeping and basic accounting procedures.
  • Ability to research, retrieve and organize data to prepare reports and financial documents.
  • Accurately perform complex mathematical computations.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Prepare and maintain accounting documents and records.
  • Set priorities and organize work to meet strict deadlines.
  • Coordinate a variety of projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent computer skills required (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Experience using a 10-key calculator.
  • Ability to speak and write in the English and Spanish language is required.
