DIRECTOR OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY - OCEAN MIST FARMS, CASTROVILLE, CA

The goals of the Director of IT are to optimize current and future IT investments as well as develop and attain all IT service level agreements for the user community within the Company. The successful candidate must provide vision and leadership for developing and implementing technology initiatives across all areas of the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Strategy and Planning:
  • Establish and align IT department goals, objectives, and operating procedures with strategic initiatives.
  • Establish service level agreements with user community and ensure compliance.
  • Establish policies, procedures, and methods for process improvement.
  • Establish roles and responsibilities for current and proposed information system projects.
  • Develop and maintain an appropriate IT organizational structure that supports the needs of the business including the supervision, recruitment, and development of all IT staff.
  • Oversee third party system security audits and make recommendations for enhanced systems and security.
  • Direct development and execution of an enterprise-wide disaster recovery plan.
Acquisition and Development:
  • Identify needed and cost-effective opportunities to improve IT hardware and software systems.
  • Coordinate and manage IT projects including customer relationship during and after project.
  • Develop, track, and control the information technology annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Review and optimize hardware and software maintenance contracts.
  • Advise, counsel, and educate executives and management on current technologies and trends in the IT industry.

Operational Management:

  • Maintain a professional image whether via written or in-person communications with the organization’s executives, key department stakeholders, and end users.
  • Assess and communicate risks associated with IT investment decisions.
  • Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analysis for IT spending and initiatives.
  • Coordinate and facilitate consultation with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new technology implementations.
  • Ensure continuous delivery of IT services through oversight of service level agreements with end users and monitoring of IT system performance.
  • Approve, prioritize, and control projects and project portfolio as they relate to selection, acquisition, development, and installation of major information systems.

Technical Knowledge:

  • Experience with various ERP systems including Famous Software, including implementations
  • Experience with B2B EDI
  • Experience with NetApps SAN’s and NAS’s
  • Experience with Citrix
  • Experience with CRM, WMS and HRIS
  • Experience with Unified Communications
  • Experience with Business Intelligence tools
  • Working knowledge of MS SQL, Office and database management
  • Fundamental programming and DBA experience

Other Duties:

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Job Requirements and Qualifications

Supervision Received and Exercised:
  • Work under general supervision.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to entire IT department.
  • Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team; identify and resolve complex problems; work in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment; and manage multiple high visibility projects.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or business administration or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of six years of progressive experience managing and/or directing an IT operation.
  • Considerable knowledge of business theory, business processes, management, budgeting, business office operations and supply chain.
  • General understanding of computer systems characteristics, features, and integration capabilities.
  • Experience with systems design and development from business requirement analysis through day-to-day management.
  • Proven experience in IT planning, organization, and development.
  • Superior understanding of project management principles.
