The Director of Finance directs the Ocean Mist Farms Finance team in support of business leadership throughout the company including Sales, Marketing, Innovations/R&D, Operations/Supply Chain, and G&A functions. Provides overall leadership for the company’s budgeting, financial forecasting, management reporting, and strategic planning processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Business Support:

  • Manage and motivate a team of high-performance Finance Managers and Analysts. Ensure finance team is offering high-quality support to all business functions
  • Provide support, analysis and insight to all operating units and stakeholders
  • Partner with business leaders to define and monitor key performance indicators used to measure and assess financial and operational performance
  • Evaluate and redesign methods and procedures to improve report content, accuracy, and ease of access


  • Review of weekly Operating Income and cash forecast projections, along with analysis of week-to-week changes. Assess forecast accuracies and drive process improvement efforts where needed  
  • Support Demand and Supply Planning process
  • Support Company-wide Cost Cutting efforts by partnering with business leaders through analysis, reporting, and course correction recommendations
  • Coordinate compilation of monthly projections.  Analyze forecast accuracies to identify process improvements   
  • Orchestrate the annual planning process including target setting, scheduling milestone reviews, and development of Board of Directors presentation materials
  • Oversee long-term Strategic Planning efforts and modeling
  • Partner with Accounting team to design, define, improve, and automate management reporting as business needs evolve   
  • Design, build, and maintain Business Intelligence tools (in Essbase, Tableau, Famous) to support various planning efforts, including Weekly Projections, Monthly Reforecasts, Annual Budgets, and long-range Strategic Plans
  • Partner with business leaders to develop and maintain BI solutions to automate critical business information such as Sales Reporting by Customer and/or by Item
  • Coordinate training sessions to keep business users current on the usage of and changes to the BI platform
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or comparable experience is required; MBA preferred
  • A minimum of 15 years of progressive finance experience with value-added, agricultural-based, and/or consumer goods companies
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems, advanced experience with the Microsoft Office suite of applications
  • Skilled with accounting, finance and business relevant computer programs and applications
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of project management principles, including the ability to manage projects, working through others, with tight timelines and multiple, potentially overlapping priorities
  • Ability to interact with executive and senior management across the organization and with external constituencies (audit, legal, government) as needed
  • Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with colleagues, staff, and external contacts, and to work collaboratively and cooperatively in a professional team environment
  • Ability to work with and manage a high level of detailed and confidential information; ability to identify and resolve complex problems; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
