MAINTENANCE FLEET MANAGER - VALLEY PRIDE, SALINAS, CA

The Maintenance Fleet Manager leads a team of mechanics and truck drivers and is responsible for coordinating maintenance for all on- and off-road equipment and yard facilities for Valley Pride and JTD Leasing companies, in conjunction with our on-road maintenance affiliate. In addition to optimizing efficiencies and managing the team to achieve targeted results, the Fleet Maintenance Manager ensures compliance with all federal and state agencies, adherence to safety rules and practices at all times, and timely deliveries to all customers and minimizing downtime in field operations.

Additionally, the Fleet Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading Valley Pride’s Fleet Management and Logistics program including all coordination, planning, and dispatching

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure all vehicles and equipment are operational, and equipment and load hauling are optimized to achieve Cut-to-Cool targets
  • Create a preventative maintenance program for all off-road equipment, including field harvesting and custom fabricated equipment, as well as tractors (Newhall and Deere)
  • Effective maintenance for on-road equipment via affiliate program, and 90-day DOT maintenance coordination with shop manager
  • Configure, install, diagnose faults, and manage repairs for engines, drive components, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, etc.
  • Work with third party vendors to negotiate services, warranties, parts, equipment costs, or outsourcing
  • Administer and manage Electronic Driver Log (ELD) system including accurate completion of all daily forms and logs
  • Review and make recommendations on purchases and capital expenditures, and act as primary contact to regulators
  • Ensure all personal protective and safety equipment are available and in use where indicated
  • Follow industry techniques, news, and trends to drive innovation, develop new efficiencies, and continually improve the department
  • Collaborate with Harvesting Supervisors and Safety to ensure fleet, equipment, and machinery are maintained according to manufacturer’s recommendations and company standard
  • Responsible for engaging, developing, and training your team including safety, food safety, and coaching/correction

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
    • 5-10 years of previous mechanical, electrical, or maintenance management experience (or equivalent), with experience in field and manufacturing automation a plus
    • Bilingual/biliterate in English and Spanish
    • Proficiency with computers, particularly the Microsoft suite
    • ELD system experience preferred
    • Valid Driver’s License, Class A, preferred
    • Ability to work Monday-Saturday and occasional Sundays as needed
    • Able to relocate to Yuma/Coachella area during winter months
