The Mechanic - Technician I, cleans, services, diagnoses, adjusts, orders parts and repairs farm machinery such as, but not limited to wheel tractors, harvesters, crawler tractors, trucks, buses, tillage equipment, pumps, tillage equipment and trailers. Additionally, does extensive configuration, installation, diagnoses faults and repairs equipment including but not limited to engines, drive components, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair malfunctions on field equipment, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.
  • Configure, layout and assemble complex hydraulic, electrical systems on new equipment.
  • Produce quality work while maintaining cost controls.
  • Establish and maintain an organized, clean work area.
  • Maintain communication with manager, fellow employees and field personnel.
  • Disassemble and assemble farm equipment without assistance.
  • Inspect parts and determine when parts are to be replaced or reused.
  • Fill out time cards, parts requests, and service reports.
  • Work safely around and with equipment, personnel.
  • Repair equipment quickly and accurately.
  • Establish and maintain a good attendance record.

Job Requirements and Qualifications

  • Minimum 8 years experience working as a mechanic or experience and equivalent training.
  • Have proven experience in setting up and diagnosing malfunctions in hydraulic systems, electrical systems, drive systems and diesel and gas engines.
  • Have ability to use specialty tools and scanners to diagnose, adjust and repair equipment.
  • Have the willingness and ability to follow safety guidelines and work safely around and with other personnel.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail.
  • Be able to lift and carry 50 lbs.
  • Ability to listen and follow directions accurately.
  • Have the ability to read and understand parts and service manuals.
  • Have the willingness to travel to remote locations.
  • Have the ability to legibly fill out time cards, parts requests, and comments on work orders quickly and accurately.
  • Possess and maintain appropriate drivers license and endorsements.
  • Have the willingness and ability to maintain a good attendance record.
  • Have common and specialty tools to diagnose and repair equipment.
  • Perform other jobs or duties as assigned by supervisor.
