RAW HARVEST MANAGER - CASTROVILLE, CA

The Raw Harvest Manager is responsible for all aspects of estimates, sales coordination for Ocean Mist Farms, working with harvest management and sales team. In addition, works closely with assigned growers to ensure optimal quality and yield at harvest for Ocean Mist Foods & Farms.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Effectively manage assigned commodities to produce and ship the highest quality, most consistent and desirable product while striving to achieve the lowest cost per unit
- Walk fields daily and take pictures for quality, marketing, and sales purposes
- Distribute orders and changes to the Harvest Commodity Managers from OMF
- Coordinate with volumes, blocks for Ocean Mist Farms & Foods
- Prepare daily estimates and four-week projections of volume for Ocean Mist Foods
- Working closely with harvest company field staff to ensure crew(s) are in the right field and harvesting the correct volume for Ocean Mist Foods
- Review and make recommendations on variety trials best for Ocean Mist Foods
- Communicate closed lots to OM Foods along with yield information (totes harvested, totes left behind, cartons harvested for Fresh Market, walked acres, etc.)
- Ensure crop harvested meets all county, state and federal standards or regulations before picking inspections and packout data to make harvest decisions
- Partners with both Sales and Harvesting to develop and execute effective pick strategies for areas of responsibility
- Visit and monitor assigned outside growers for quality of work and adherence to all Ocean Mist Food safety standards
- Prepare summaries as requested Ocean Mist Foods & Farms
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements and Qualifications
- Seasonal relocation required to Coachella/Imperial Valley/Yuma
- 1 – 3 years with employee management experience
- Requires continuing education and training in management, product quality, employee and food safety, and other job-related areas/topics
- Ability to read, write, and understand English and Spanish
- Valid California drivers license – Class C minimum
- Working knowledge of computers and software programs such as Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and word
- Must be able to work under minimal supervision
- This position requires that the incumbent work Monday through Saturday, including some Sundays and holidays
- 10 hours each day or as needed to fulfill responsibility
- Must be able to manage a project from its initiation to completion with minimal supervision
- Must be able to maintain effective and harmonious working relationships with fellow employees, supervisor(s), growers, quality assurance, and sales
- Effectively maintain professional relationships and a balance outlook during stressful times
- Must be able to analyze a situation, interpret all facts, and make a decision based on all available information
- Must be able to learn new duties and responsibilities with minimal repetition
- Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must be well organized
