Under minimal supervision, Receiving and Cooling Supervisor is responsible for ensuring all receiving personnel is entering field data accurately in Famous software. This position is responsible for receiving and cooling product to its optimum temperature in the shortest amount of time, also assisting receiving and cooling manager oversee day to day operations within the department.

  • Assists department manager to ensure proper scheduling and training staff to cover the required work shifts that can vary through the season.
  • In the absence of the Department Manager, must be able to manage the entire operation.
  • Effective supervision of assigned staff and leaders.
  • Receive product;
        - Verify accuracy of field tickets
        - Issue pallet tag numbers
  • Confirm field traceback ID’s on cartons to the actual harvest field, perform data entry of product information, and ensure data is a match
  • Ensure that each carton is cooled to its optimum Temperature using the following methods:
         -Hydro vac tubes
         -Ice Injector
         -Forced Air Tunnel
  • Ensure that the public scale is staffed with trained personnel. Collect revenue from truck drivers and issue scale tickets. Accountable for all money from scale tickets, reports all revenue to Accounting Department.
  • Establish and maintain good, positive working relationships with our growers, field personnel.
  • Work with Grower Accounting department to ensure that all field identifications are correct.
  • Work with Growers on specific needs and questions on daily pack out reports.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance Supervisor, to ensure that all equipment is maintained and operated correctly.
  • Accurately fill out hold action reports and distribute to all departments.
  • Accurately fill out proper documents for product rejections, re-cools, repacks and notify accounting personnel.
  • Work with food safety department and provide cooling reports monthly.
  • Ability to consolidate pallet tags to a master tag/label
  • Other Receiving and cooling duties as assigned.


  • High school diploma or above is preferred
  • Three years minimum experience in Agriculture Receiving, Cooling & Shipping required.
  • Two-year supervision experience desired.
  • Intermediate computer knowledge in Famous and Shipping Management computer software usage and other related software a plus.
  • Forklift certified preferred.
  • Must be dependable and trustworthy.
  • Must have strong leadership skills and lead by example.
  • Ability to use a two-way radio to communicate.
  • Current Ammonia Safety Certification is preferred.
  • Must keep up-to-date on new trends in our industry is a must;
  • Must be able to work under little or no supervision.
  • Must be able to travel to affiliate companies during the winter season.
  • Bi lingual: English / Spanish preferred.
  • Basic mathematical skills required: addition, subtraction, multiplication.
