SALES REPRESENTATIVE - OCEAN MIST FARMS, CASTROVILLE, CA

The Sales Representative is responsible for selling to an assigned customer base and/or region of North America and providing excellent customer service while fulfilling customers specific orders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Sell to assigned customers through phone, email and online account management activities.
  • Make pricing, negotiation and service decisions as the key contact for assigned customers.
  • Accountable for accurate order entry management (including quantity, price, product, customer, ship to, delivery instructions and any special instructions) into company system and, if needed, the customer system, and to monitor status of orders until confirmed received and/or cancelled.
  • Confers with Product Managers regarding status of all daily commodity inventory and negotiates pricing in the best interest of OMF and OMO.
  • Maximize returns to the Company by processing all orders in addition to settlements needed for troubled files.
  • Cooperates with accounting department to assure prompt collection of assigned account receivables; monitors and calls on invoices over twenty-one (21) days outstanding, responsible for all adjustments on invoices within thirty (30) days, follow up on all deductions within thirty (30) days of shipment.
  • Provides backup as needed to other members of the Sales Team during their absence.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with four years of experience in produce sales or related career preferred;
  • Alternatively, eight or more years of experience in produce sales or related career;
  • Excellent communication skills are required; provide excellent customer service while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-pressured environment.
  • Ability and capability to influence and negotiate.
  • Must have ability to act independently and make competent decisions without supervision.
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills; must exercise a high degree of initiative, discipline, judgment, discretion and decision-making.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships within all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient software skills are required, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite applications, (i.e., Excel and Word) is required; prior Famous, EDI, ITrade and Foodlink experience is highly desired.
  • Will operate various office equipment, including (not inclusive list): telephone, computer keyboard, photocopy machine, and other clerical and office equipment.
