The Sanitation Lead is responsible for ensuring proper sanitation of the harvesting equipment and equipment by overseeing sanitation employees, cleaning and inspecting equipment according to established policies and procedures, and training employees. Oversees and directs crews of sanitation employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead cross-functional Sanitation team. Work with management on scheduling to ensure sanitation activities are carried out according to policy and procedure.
  • Responsible for the sanitation of the harvesting equipment and conducting sanitation activities in accordance to the master sanitation schedule.
  • Responsible for the sanitation staff activities and training. Track completion of training for sanitation employees.
  • Organize sanitation crew in an efficient and effective manner to maximize resources.
  • Responsible for completion of timesheets including verification and timely submission to Supervisor; ensure proper meal/rest periods are taken.
  • Instruct employees on proper methods of job performance, with an emphasis on food safety and safety.
  • Monitor equipment and parts for cleanliness and proper sanitation.
  • Ensures all personal protective equipment is clean, in suitable conditions, properly used, and available at all times.
  • Track trends to identify areas of improvement and actions to improve sanitation activities.
  • Reports to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality. Provides reporting of activities to management and weekly reporting of sanitation employee performance to Food Safety Management.
  • Document all sanitation activities and assure SSOPs are being executed.
  • Participate in 3rd party and regulatory audits.
  • Conduct safety and educational training.
  • Inventory and order sanitation supplies.
  • Review that weekly chemical inventories are conducted and assure inventory counts match. Provide monthly chemical inventory for accounting purposes.
  • Assumes personal responsibility to insure safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and, incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks.
  • Adheres to Quality work practices, follows GMP’s, maintains sanitary conditions and ensures that product quality is maintained.
  • Always ensures regulatory compliance.
  • Able to work weekends, holidays and overtime as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or an equivalent or relevant experience is required.
  • May require continuing education in supervision, safety, sanitation and other job related areas.
  • 1 – 3 years of previous experience in harvesting sanitation with chemical knowledge is preferred.
  • Bilingual/biliterate in English and Spanish is preferred. Ability to speak, read and write in Spanish and English without assistance is preferred;
  • Valid California Drivers License, class B and/or C;
  • Discreet handling of all business and employee matters (maintaining confidentiality at all levels is a must);
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong communication skills;
  • Able to work well under pressure and meet various deadlines;
  • Must be extremely well organized and able to multitask;
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
