The Shipping Supervisor position coordinates activities of workers responsible for picking product and preparing it for same day shipping both nationally and internationally. Assist shipping manager by identifying and expedite workflow. Oversee staff, ensures safety, procedure & policy compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Open Shipping Office at corresponding time and prepare aging reports for all shipping locations, which vary by season
  • Review previous days reconciliation sheet for any variances, and research any problem areas
  • Coordinate with the sales department on any special requirements that can change daily
  • Check in trucks on a first come – first serve basis
  • Communicate to incoming drivers current loading status to the best of your ability, in a courteous manner
  • Assign available loaders to each order when ready to load
  • Communicate to each loader any special requirements for that order
  • Ensure that all orders are loaded in rotation, according to the aging report
  • Monitor product receiving during the day and cross reference truck arrival
  • Tag out the orders by checking the pallet tag numbers used by the loaders against the product on order
  • Verify that the correct product was loaded in rotation, and any special instructions for that order were followed
  • Issue a Bill of Lading for each shipment, and distribute the copies

Telephone Inquiries:

  • Answer all questions by sales or customers regarding orders
  • Provide truck drivers with directions to our various facilities
Building Cleanliness:
  • Ensure all areas are kept clean at all times by walking around and performing visual inspections
  • Assign tasks to employees when needed
  • Communicate maintenance items to the Maintenance Supervisor
  • Prepare and complete all end of the day reports
  • Physically count the cold rooms to verify computer accuracy
  • Make any computer adjustments to ensure that both numbers match
  • Deliver required reports to sales office
  • Ensure all doors and gates are locked and set alarm system before exiting facility
  • Supervise assigned personnel
  • Maintain a professional image that supports Ocean Mist Farms goals and integrity

Job Requirements and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 2 years minimum experience in Agriculture Cooling, Receiving & Shipping
  • Basic computer knowledge in Famous computer software
  • Weekly shift rotation schedule; earliest shift can begin approximately at 6 a.m. until closure of daily operations, which can vary from 4 p.m. or later; latest shift can begin approximately at 4 p.m. until closure of daily operations, which can vary from 1 a.m. or later
  • Able use radio frequency hand held devices properly
  • Required continuing education in supervision, safety and other job-related areas
  • Must be organized, focused, detailed, goal orientated and work well with a team
