I grew up loving design, because my dad owns his own design business and really taught me to pay attention to beautiful craftsmanship. Today, I invite you inside the Ocean Mist Farms headquarters in Castroville, CA to show you around the beautiful space I consider “home” five days a week.
To say we are veggie fans is an understatement. We are so in love with them; we grow them, sell them, eat them and even decorate our office with them.
As you enter the main entrance, you pass through two beautifully crafted wood doors, but pay attention to the handles. Since we are the largest artichoke grower in the U.S., we have hand-carved artichoke handles on the doors! On the other side, there are celery handles. It’s hard to miss the giant artichoke in the reception area when you first walk in our headquarters. Glance up to see a beautiful open-beam ceiling. Hanging down from the ceiling is a custom-built chandelier, with… what else? Artichokes! This reception area is where all the fun happens, from the recent Halloween costume contest, to the upcoming annual visit from Santa and his reindeer.

My family has always joked that the kitchen is where everyone ends up hanging out, even if it’s the smallest room in the house. That’s pretty much true of our office too. Since we work in the food industry, we commonly gather in the kitchen to grab coffee, share a meal, a laugh, or even talk business. My favorite part of the office kitchen are the artichokes that are carved into the doors. Wow! There is no question that we are in the produce business when you enter those doors. It’s hard to miss the celery handles too!
Truly the most remarkable feature of Ocean Mist Farms veggie inspired office design, is the board room conference table. This beautiful custom-made table is beyond impressive to anyone that enters this room. It’s where we hold the daily 6:30 a.m. sales meetings, committee meetings and of course board meetings.
