Sweet baby broccoli can be used just like bunch broccoli. The mild flavor and soft texture makes it more appealing for certain recipes. Sweet baby broccoli florets are very versatile. Use them as an ingredient in almost any dish or serve blanched as a unique crudité. Brush with olive oil and salt/pepper before cooking to add flavor to any side dish, salad, stir fry or roasted vegetable medley.

Selection Tips
  • Sweet baby broccoli should have dark green beads.
  • Occasional flowering is acceptable; this is a natural characteristic of the sweet baby broccoli.
  • Avoid any discolored leaves in the crown area, and wilted stalks.
  • Stalks that are rubbery are a sign of dehydration or not being properly refrigerated.
Storage and Handling
  • Wrap unwashed sweet baby broccoli in plastic wrap or tuck into a plastic bag.
  • Store in the vegetable drawer or crisper section of your refrigerator. It will keep for five to seven days.

Growing &
Harvest

Ocean Mist Farms sweet baby broccoli is grown from seed in a commercial greenhouse and then transplanted directly into a field location chosen for a specific micro-climate. Thanks to our perfectly suited California growing regions, we are able to grow our great-tasting, nutritious sweet baby broccoli year-round. Depending on the time of year, it takes between 60 to 115 days to reach harvest time. Each bunch of sweet baby broccoli is harvested by hand and each plant may be harvested three to six times.
