Joe Angelo joined our company 4 years ago as a member of our Sales Department. Since then, he has become our Sales Manager overseeing the day-to-day department operations. Keep reading to learn more about Joe, his role in Sales, and what his role looks like during the unprecedented time we’re in now.
- What's one word to describe your role at Ocean Mist Farms?
Being in Sales, we are continually trying to hit a moving target, with our customer base, and within our own company departments. I think the rest of the Sales team would agree that the only constant for us is "change". Change with weather conditions, change with supply, change with demand.
- Who do you primarily work with on a daily basis?
Sales works with a customer base consisting of retailers, wholesalers and food service companies as well as multiple internal departments pretty evenly. Within the company, we work closely with the harvest managers to stay current on product quality, growing conditions and supply. We use that information to determine market pricing on a day-to-day, hour-to-hour basis. As our price sheet says, ‘PRICE AND AVAILABILITY SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE’. We work with Packaging, Marketing, and New Product Development to find ways of separating ourselves from the competition while focusing on our customers' needs.
- What is the biggest challenge for the sales team right now?
Uncertainty. We’re all in this COVID-19 crisis together and we’re working diligently within our sales team as well as with our customer base to try to understand what the new normal will look like once we move into the post-COVID-19 way of life.
- How has the Sales team adjusted to COVID-19?
Overall, we have adjusted and adapted well since we’re already a “communication focused” department. While working remotely, it’s important we error on the side of over communicating, both internally and externally.
- Favorite thing about Ocean Mist Farms?
Extremely proud to work for a family owned business.
- Last movie or show you streamed?
North Shore, a cheesy 80's surfer movie that’s such a cult-classic.
- If you had a superpower what would it be?
The ability to breath and live underwater.
- Something on your bucket list?
Travel to Hawaii with the family!
- Favorite thing to do on the weekend during shelter-in-place?
Wine walk or bike ride around the neighborhood.
- Best way to have artichokes?
Grilled!
