EMPLOYEE COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER - CASTROVILLE, CA

This role primarily manages the execution of employee communication programs that inform, inspire and connect employees to Ocean Mist Farms. This position will play a key role in reinvigorating our culture and communications across our various business units with the goal of creating an organization that is collaborative and focused on shared success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted internal communications partner by managing the continuous development and execution of an internal communications strategy through a year-round plan. This includes communicating initiatives to employees in a variety of communication channels including print, digital and interpersonal ways; tasks include creating and publishing company newsletters, calendars, ADP posts.
  • Produce internal communication materials (e.g., talking points, emails, key messages, infographics, FAQs, etc.) to keep employees informed about business strategy, goals, and key initiatives.
  • Utilize Adobe Creative Cloud applications to create visually appealing layouts, designs, and graphics.
  • Facilitate translation requests for all internal communication materials, coordinating with external translation services.
  • Develop content calendar(s), internal communication infrastructure and processes that best support leadership vision in aligning or exceeding employee expectations.  
  • Proactively manage and maintain the various internal communications channels in a timely, relevant and consistent manner to drive employee engagement and amplify our talent brand.
  • Experiment with new, creative ways to reach employees with the news and information they care about and drive their engagement in prioritized company initiatives.
  • Continuously identify opportunities and execute communication plans for building a unified organizational culture between and among our different business units.
  • Measure employee engagement by conducting regular pulse check and employee surveys while aggregating/analyzing data and sustaining an edge as a recognized employer of choice.    
  • Manage Engagement Survey efforts. Track and manage progress with identified employee initiatives and events.
  • Measure and report monthly the impact of all internal communication programs.
  • Ensure internal communications messaging is consistent across the organization and aligned to our mission, values and OMF culture. This includes developing processes to ensure consistent and thoughtful communications across teams and by all leaders.
  • Manage coordination of town hall meetings as well as other employee engagement events.
  • Arranges for photography during special employee events, including social media presence/posts.
  • Write and edit communications resources for talent related initiatives. Ensure that all materials present a clear, unified, and positive image for the organization and/or our talent brand.
  • Work collaboratively with members of the Marketing and HR team to manage the company’s employer brand internally and externally as well as to ensure OMF’s brand is consistently carried through in all internal communication sources.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned.

Job Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, Communications or a related field.
  • 5+ years of related work experience with internal communications/communicating to an employee population.
  • 1+ years of experience in employee engagement programs preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, 2+ years’ experience using Adobe Creative Suite (specifically InDesign, Photoshop).
  • Polished writer who can connect and distill key messages and present them in a compelling way to multiple internal audiences and channels.
  • Must be creative and super passionate about internal communication and engagement, and the overall employee experience.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously working against timelines while consistently delivering high-quality results.
  • Great people skills: diplomacy, integrity and presence with the ability to build strong relationships and work effectively up, down and across Ocean Mist Farms.
  • Ability to influence and build effective relationships with senior leaders.
  • Must be flexible, resilient, comfortable with ambiguity and adapt easily to change.
  • Think creatively and embrace measurement and data; including being passionate about testing new ideas to improve impact.
  • Ability to use tact and professionalism in times of stress.
  • Represents the company in a variety of settings, always promoting the company in the best possible way.
  • Bilingual/Spanish is a plus.
